WhatsApp is testing new features aimed at improving the experience of audio and video calls on Android devices. According to WABetaInfo, beta version 2.25.10.16 of WhatsApp for Android introduces the following updates:
-
Mute Microphone Button for Incoming Voice Calls:
Users can now mute their microphone directly from the notification panel before answering a voice call. This is especially useful in noisy environments or when users want to answer silently. -
Camera Toggle for Video Calls:
Users will be able to disable their camera before answering a video call, offering an extra layer of privacy and time to prepare before appearing on screen. -
Emoji Reactions During Video Calls:
Participants in video calls can now send emoji reactions in real time, making communication more expressive and interactive.
These features are currently in testing and available only to a limited group of beta users. A broader rollout is expected in the coming weeks.
With these updates, WhatsApp continues its efforts to improve privacy and convenience during calls, enhancing the overall user experience on Android.
