Google Chrome has introduced new performance-focused updates to enhance browser efficiency and optimize memory use. The latest update includes "Memory Saver" and "Energy Saver" modes, designed to reduce resource consumption, particularly on devices with limited memory.
The Memory Saver feature frees up RAM by deactivating tabs that aren’t in active use, which allows for a smoother browsing experience by allocating resources to the tabs that users are currently viewing. This feature is especially useful for users with many open tabs, as it minimizes lag while still allowing quick access to deactivated tabs when needed.
Energy Saver mode reduces background activity and lowers video playback frame rates when a device's battery is running low. This mode aims to extend browsing time when the device is not plugged in, making Chrome more efficient on portable devices.
Google has also enabled controls for these modes within the Chrome settings menu, allowing users to customize their experience based on their performance needs.
